Dear Parents of Eighth Grade Students:
The end of the school year is quickly approaching. This letter is to inform you of upcoming eighth grade activities and responsibilities. Please keep this page for your records. Original documents sent home with your student MUST be signed and turned in with the 8th grade packet, the week of March 25th-29th in the Pioneer Plaza during lunch.
Yearbook Party - Tuesday, May 21st
Eighth Grade Academic Awards Assembly - Thursday, May 23rd from 8:25 to 9:55 AM
Any student who has not attended Pioneer during sixth, seventh, or eighth grades and who wishes to be considered for either the Six Semester 3.5 GPA Principal’s Honor Roll Award or the 4.0 GPA Presidential Honor Roll Award, please provide copies of transcripts or copies of grades to the administration office no later than Monday, May 13th.
Promotion Ceremony - Thursday, May 23rd from 3:00-4:30 PM
8th Grade Promotion Party - Tuesday, May 28th from 6:00-9:00 PM
Disneyland - Wednesday, May 29th from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM
Students must arrive at Pioneer by 7:30 AM on the morning of the field trip.
Please remind your student to bring money for lunch and wear sunscreen. Water bottles and small snacks are allowed in the park; however, students may not bring their own lunch.
Any student who has not turned in all of his/her books or cleared any outstanding library obligations must turn them in prior to going to Disneyland. If students do not have all library obligations cleared by the morning of Wednesday, May 29th, they will not be allowed to board the bus for Disneyland.
Please remind your student that their behavior will reflect upon Pioneer Middle School and your family. Any serious problem will be handled by Disneyland Security and Anaheim Police.
ALL Students must be picked up at Pioneer promptly at 6:30 PM
Students are invited to take part in these activities as long as they are not identified as being a part of the Non-Activity List. The criteria for being placed on the Non-Activity List are students who have a GPA below a 2.0; or have violated Pioneer Student Expectations (Please reference pages 7 - 14 of your student’s binder reminder.); or have two or more unsatisfactory citizenship marks, and/or three or more needs improvement citizenship marks on his/her report card. These criteria follow TUSD Board Policies 5131.6 and 6145.
A special thank you to all who have been involved with the organization of our eighth grade activities. They are appreciated by all who attend Pioneer!
